#2 From The Brooklyn Bridge To The Empire State Building

Hello : )

today I will tell you all about my second day in New York City. The day started off with breakfast in Brooklyn with an awesome view over the Brooklyn Bridge. When we finished our food we walked to the bridge to cross the East River. The almost two kilometers (approximately one mile) long bridge is a stunning construction, the walk and bike path is above a six lines road which is pretty intense thinking that when the bridge was originally created in 1883 it was the longest suspension bridge and today it´s a normally busy road to get to Manhattan. I always wanted to walk over the bridge; I mean if you saw ‘Sex and the City’ you will know why. On the bridge, we had an amazing view over Lower Manhattan New York (the One World Trade Center, and Wall Street).

Make your mark in New York, and you are a made man.’

‘Wherever you go, go with all your heart!’

Our next stop was Wall Street – we looked around and touched the ‘charging bull. Wall Street is an 1100 meters (eight-block long) street which is in the Financial District of New York. Wall Street became a metonym for financial markets, it is popular for the world’s most powerful stock exchanges the “New York Stock Exchange” and “NASDAQ Stock Market”.

Walking down south from the financial district is a fast way to get to the daily ferries. To have a nice view over the Manhattan Skyline and to see the Statue of Liberty we went to the “Staten Island Ferry”. This ferry is not meant to be for tourists but there is a lot going on it because it´s for free and an easy way to see the statue of liberty.

After we got off the ferry we went to the flatiron building or ‘fuller building’, which is a triangular block at the intersection of East 22nd Street in the south, Broadway, and 5th Avenue (building the famous triangular form), with 22 stories it was once one of the highest skyscrapers.

My last stop for this day was the Empire State Building… it was breathtaking. The building was for nearly 40 years the world’s tallest skyscraper, today it is the world’s 35th tallest building. On top, you can go around a 360° observatory and have a fabulous view!

I hope you enjoy this series of blog posts! I really loved New York City! Please give me your feedback…’

Deu.

xoxo Nike
