A Journey through Austria

Hello : )

shortly after arriving in Germany, my grandparents took me on a two weeks vacation to Austria. We traveled along the Danube with our camper and did some great bicycle tours. There is a lot to see in Austria and nature is fabulous. So here you can see some impressions:

With my grandpa, I visited a monastery in Melk. I enjoyed seeing the old buildings and hearing about the past. Every time I am at one of these historic places I feel like the masonry is so strong that nothing can happen. It is a wonder that we have so many of these great places and everyone should be able to explore the atmosphere there. Not only the inside is special. The gardens are mostly spectacular all the work and effort people put in pays out. By taking a walk you can not only see flowers and trees there are many art exhibitions outside. Artists worked on installations to make the landscape special.

The weather wasn´t always the best for bike tours. So one day we headed to the Salzburg Land with its beautiful lakes and landscapes. We walked through St. Wolfgang a small city with a beautiful overview of Wolfgang lake. My grandparents wanted to take me to the café “Im Weissen Rössl” where the musical comedy film “Im weißen Rößl” took place. The movie is from the 1960s and apparently, it is classic. Even though we weren´t able to eat there the city was great. We had a great coffee and pie break somewhere else.

After a few more bike tours I wished that we could spent our last day in Vienna. As a little girl I started watching Sissi. The movie is about the Empress Elisabeth of Austria and it was published in 1955. I think everyone in Germany knows the movie and it is classic as well. The Schönbrunn castle was the residence of the Austrian monarchs. Everyday a many people come to see it and there are a lot of different exhibitions. Behind the castle there is a big park and an included zoo, it is beautiful to walk down the long paths.

I really enjoyed visiting Austria and I want to come back to see more… I really try to write more frequently, but I am working on a concept of how to work this page in Germany. In two weeks I have fall break and you can be sure that you will hear from me! Till then keep reading and enjoy fall.

Deu.

xoxo Nike
